Cook County of Illinois launched a new main website with the help of Clarity Partners, who redesigned, built, and established a branding and governance plan. Clarity created a user-friendly site with responsive design on a Content Management System (CMS) that allows for up-to-date information that emphasizes County services.

The new design allows for the site to scale according to what device a visitor uses to access the County website. Whether visitors utilize a mobile phone, tablet, or desktop computer, they will be able to experience a user-friendly layout that functions on all connected devices. With the help of Smart Chicago’s Civic User Testing Group, Clarity was able to test different layouts for user friendliness before committing to the final design.

Clarity built the new website on Drupal, an open source CMS, that will allow County staff to easily update, add, or remove information from the site. Updates can be made without having to contact an external website administrator, giving the County autonomy on content as well as quickly providing County residents with the most recent information.

Along with designing and building the new website, Clarity established branding and governance guidelines to seamlessly translate the County’s main website to its agencies.
