Chicago Police Department Website Redesign
The Chicago Police Department’s (CPD) website redesign was driven by a mission to enhance transparency, community engagement, and usability for Chicago’s 2.7 million residents. As one of the largest police departments in the nation, CPD operates across 22 districts, each with its own unique needs. The redesign provides an intuitive platform to foster connection and empower citizens.
At the core of the new website is a service catalog, allowing users to access dozens of services with just a click. From filing online reports to exploring community engagement programs, the site simplifies navigation for residents. A key focus was ensuring citizens could easily locate their district, beat, or area to stay informed about local initiatives and events. This community-centric design supports CPD’s goal of creating a safer, more connected Chicago.
The design prioritizes user experience through streamlined information architecture, advanced search tools, and a responsive layout for seamless use on any device. Custom dashboards were introduced to improve transparency, while the design also emphasized language access and accessibility. Additionally, the site gave a presence to the internal departments that collectively drive CPD’s mission. Interactive maps and enhanced district pages further contribute to the site’s overall functionality.
The result is a visually distinctive, future-ready website that meets the evolving needs of the community while honoring CPD’s legacy of public service. By creating a platform that informs and connects, the redesign strengthens CPD’s commitment to fostering trust and collaboration with the citizens of Chicago.
Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office (CCSAO) Website Redesign
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office (CCSAO) is a diverse and inclusive team dedicated to ensuring justice and safety for over 5 million residents of Cook County, Illinois. As the second-largest prosecutor’s office in the U.S., it handles a wide range of legal matters, including criminal prosecutions, child support, domestic violence, fraud, and immigration services. With over 1,200 employees, including more than 600 attorneys, the CCSAO operates through six bureaus and four independent units to manage tens of thousands of cases annually. Committed to accountability, fairness, and respect, the office advocates for community well-being while fostering diverse perspectives and collaboration.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office needed to replatform its website to an upgraded version of Drupal ahead of the End of Life deadline for its current platform of Drupal 7. CCSAO took advantage of the opportunity to redesign the site, as well as joining the County’s shared Acquia Site Factory codebase. The resulting Drupal 10 site presents a cleaner, updated design, as well as a solid foundation for enhancements moving forward.
Chicago Board of Elections (CBOE) Website Redesign and Replatform
The Board of Election Commissioners for the City of Chicago (CBOE) is a government entity responsible for conducting all elections in Chicago. The Board is made up of three Election Commissioners who are appointed by the Circuit Court of Cook County. CBOE was looking to create a new website that would improve voter education, engagement, and accessibility. Clarity replatformed the CBOE site to Drupal and performed the following improvements to this site: more responsive webpages, ADA-compliant webpages, a “Your Voter Information” tool, a “Vote by Mail” online application, and an Election Results tool.
We also improved the site’s search functionality, language accessibility and translations, access to social media outlets, and common browser functionality and compatibility while giving them the ability to do web traffic analytics reports and adding third party integrations. The new site analytics allow CBOE to understand in real-time how the site is performing for voters related to each election that takes place.
